The Lake
Knee Lake is located 400 miles north of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The lake is 50 miles long with widths up to 5 miles wide and is made up of numerous islands, bays, reefs and weedbeds creating ideal structures and areas producing some of the finest fishing anywhere. We offer fishing enthusiasts boat access to over 50,000 acres of water, abounding with trophy Northern Pike and Walleye. No other fishing activities take place on Knee Lake and the resort is the only establishment on the lake.
Knee Lake resides as a widening of the historic Hayes River system. Because of this inflow and outflow Knee Lake holds an extremely healthy mix of Pike, Walleye, Whitefish, Perch, Suckers as well as a diverse baitfish population. Every species of fish grows big because of such an abundance of forage.
With fishing aside, Knee Lake also holds some of Canada's deepest history. The Hayes River was the main pathway for the Hudson Bay fur traders dating back to the late 1600's. Famous explorers, European settlers and Hudson Bay employees travelled up and down the Hayes River in search of new lives, adventure and lucrative trades. Rich Aboriginal history is also present within the area. Pictographs dating back to over 400 years are a stones throw away from the main lodge. These paintings are symbolic of the crucial role spiritualism played in the lives of the Cree Natives.
